Amelia MacLellan

Founder

I have had a rather unusual path to being a bookkeeper. After studying Marine Biology at University, I then worked as a Museum Curator for thirteen years. When I left the museum, I left feeling that I had no other skills to offer the wider world apart from organising seashells but knew that leaving to spend more time with my family was the right choice. I was lucky that a friend of mine offered me a bit of work for her in her bookkeeping business and as I’ve always enjoyed working with numbers, I thought I’d give it a go. It was there that I realized that what I did have to offer was a skill for being methodical, putting things in order and sorting out a problem. I then studied, found my own clients and discovered that what I really enjoy is working with small businesses and individuals and being able to take care of their books allowing them to grow their own business (which is what they’d much rather do than think about debits and credits and VAT).

I have been very happily doing this for nearly ten years and since July 2024 have been joined by Fraser, my husband, who has retrained as a bookkeeper and is the one who has encouraged me to get online and let people know we are here to help take care of your books and let you get on with what you’re passionate about.

Outside of work I am at my most happy swimming outdoors, the colder the better and walking in Epping Forest with the dog (and sometime letting Fraser join me).
